I am loving the clean, minimalist look of my new website. I hope you do too! So, in keeping with new look, I have begun the process of going through my previously published patterns and revamping them to mirror the look of my site.
Until now, I have been using MS Word (it was what I had available when I started on this venture) and haven’t been happy with the results. Not entirely MS Word’s fault, as I have been pushing it to do layout which it really isn’t designed to do. The end result looked nice, yes, but there was a lot of finagling going on with more time spent than I wanted in getting things just right.
Enter Adobe InDesign. I have been using a free 30 day trial to see if it does what I want, and I have to say that it has been great. A bit of a learning curve, but I have a few Photoshop skills which are nicely transferable to InDesign.
This project will take a bit of time and it seems I have little time to spare as it is. New patterns take priority and another is always in the works. When I need a break from knitting though, I will likely be found reformatting old patterns …for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, they will be completed by year end.
So, three cheers for Adobe InDesign…and “hasta la vista” MS Word.
