La Parisienne is a truly feminine beret knit from worsted weight yarn. It features a well-defined twisted rib edge and simple stockinette stitch body adorned by a raised, decorative seven-point spiral decrease.

SIZE(S):
One size. Finished beret fits a medium adult head size of approximately 20” – 22” (51 cm – 56 cm). Amount of slouch can be adjusted by working more rounds before crown shaping begins.
CHARTED/WRITTEN:
The pattern includes complete written row by row instructions. It is NOT charted.
GAUGE:
Using larger-sized needles, 18 stitches/24 rounds to 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) in stockinette stitch, blocked.
La Parisienne is worked in the round from the ribbing up.
To work this pattern, you will need to know:
- Knit and purl stitches
- Knitting in the round
- Increase and decrease stitches – KFB, CDD, K2TOG
- Twisted stitches – K1B
YARN:
124 – 133 yards (113 – 122 m) of worsted weight yarn. Allow approximately 124 yds (114 m) for petite beret and 133 yds (122 m) for slouchier beret.
A worsted weight yarn with good stitch definition and little to no halo is recommended.
NEEDLES:
US 7 (4.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular
US 8 (5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular
US 8 (5 mm) 7” (20 cm) double-pointed
Or any size needed to obtain correct gauge.
