SIZE(S):
One size. Gently blocked scarf measures approx 88” (223.5 cm) long and 15” (38.1 cm) wide at the center. Length is adjustable by working more/fewer increase/decrease pattern repeats.
CHARTED/WRITTEN:
The pattern is fully charted, but also includes complete written directions so the ability to read a chart is not necessary to work this pattern.
GAUGE:
25 sts/28 rows to 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) in pattern stitch, blocked.
The scarf is cast on and worked flat. I-cord selvedges are worked as you knit.
To work this pattern, you will need to know:
- I-cord
- Knit and purl stitches
- Slipped stitches
- Increase and decrease stitches – M1R, M1SP, SSK
- Cable stitches – 2/1 RC, 2/2 LC, 2/2 RC
YARN:
Allow approx 630 yds (576 m) worsted weight yarn. Sample knit using (3) 3.5 oz/100 gr (210 yds/192 m) skeins of Malabrigo Rios 100% Superwash Merino wool, in color 689 Valentina.
Avoid highly variegated yarn as it will obscure the cable stitch pattern.
NEEDLES:
US 7 (4.5 mm) straight or circular needle
Or any size needed to obtain correct gauge.
NOTIONS:
Tapestry/blunt yarn needle
12” (30.5 cm) scrap yarn in contrasting color
T-pins (optional, for blocking)
