Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
–Robert Frost (1874-1963), The Road Not Taken

The Back Roads Hat is reflective of those long forgotten byways, inviting adventure with a cabled ribbing and a lovely textural pattern of curving stockinette stitch paired with garter stitch ridges and slip-stitch crosses.

GAUGE:

For reference, gauge is given for both stockinette stitch and body pattern stitch. Body pattern stitch draws in both horizontally and vertically.

21 stitches/32 rounds to 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) in stockinette stitch, unblocked.

YARN:

145 – 175 yards (133 – 160 m) of worsted weight yarn.
